Assam gets its First Aqua Tech Park


A new Aqua Tech Park was opened in Sonapur near Guwahati which was inaugurated by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. It is the first water technology park in the state and showcases modern fish farming methods like Aquaponics, Biofloc system, and ornamental fish breeding. The park was set up by Kolong Kopili, an NGO, in partnership with NABARD, ICAR, CIFA, the Fisheries Department, and the Selco Foundation. The aim is to train local fish farmers in advanced technologies to improve fish production and income.

Tripura to have 51 Shakti Peeth replicas, to boost tourism


To boost spiritual and cultural tourism in Tripura, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha laid the foundation stone for the ‘51 Shakti Peeth Park’ at Bondowar in Udaipur, about 60 km from Agartala. This big project, run by the Tourism Department, will cost around ₹97.70 crore. The park will have replicas of all 51 Shakti Peeths—holy places connected to Goddess Sati across the Indian subcontinent. The event was attended by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, MLAs Abhishek Debroy, Rampada Jamatia, and Jitendra Majumdar, and other important guests. Dr. Saha said, “From today, Bondowar adds a glorious new chapter to Udaipur’s spiritual and cultural legacy.”

Mount Kumgang Added to UNESCO World Heritage List as "Diamond Mountain from the Sea"



Mount Kumgang, a beautiful and legendary mountain in North Korea, has been added to the UNESCO World Heritage list during the 47th session in Paris. Known as “Mt Kumgang – Diamond Mountain from the Sea,” it features many peaks, waterfalls, clear pools, and coastal views. North Korea had applied for its recognition in 2021, but it was delayed due to COVID-19. This is the country’s third World Cultural Heritage site, after the Koguryo Tombs (2004) and Kaesong sites (2013). In 2014, North Korea's folk song "Arirang" was listed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. At the same UNESCO session, South Korea also had its prehistoric rock carvings at Bangucheon Stream added to the World Heritage list.

PM Modi to Launch ₹8,000 Cr Projects in Assam on Bhupen Hazarika's Birth Anniversary


Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on September 8 to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. During the visit, he will lay the foundation for major projects worth ₹8,000 crore, including the Darrang Medical College, a bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Kuruwa and Narengi, and the Guwahati Ring Road. A public event is planned at the Government Sericulture Farm in Kamarpara, where 146 bighas of land have been set aside for the 430-bed medical college, to be built at a cost of ₹572 crore.
